Fiscal Court Seeking Grant Funding for Fire Hydrants

Daviess County Fiscal Court will initiate an assistance agreement through GRADD to the Kentucky Infrastructure Authority for grant funding totaling $1,174,154.

The Daviess County Fire Department will use the Strand Associates fire flow master plan to determine where additional hydrants should be installed in the Daviess County Water District and the East Daviess County Water Association system.

David Smith, Director of Legislative Services, says this is essentially Phase II of state funding for water and wastewater infrastructure improvements.

The General Assembly has submitted a budget that includes approximately $150 million to be passed down to local governments.  However, it is still to be determined how the money will be distributed and the projects selected.

The initial phase helped to fund the Jack Hinton Road water line project from Knottsville to Philpot that added dozens of new hydrants for improved fire protection.
