The Highway 54 widening project will begin on Thursday, March 28.
For two days, the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet will place construction signage along the roadway. Once the signs are in place, crews will begin locating and moving buried utility lines. Some delays and lane restrictions are possible.
Phase 1 of the project will likely begin in late July or early August. The eastbound lanes will be shifted first to allow for construction on that side of the highway.
Ultimately, KY-54 will be widened to three-lanes in each direction with a concrete median for added safety. The estimated completion date is November 30, 2026. Yager Materials is the main contractor for the project.
