Daviess County Fiscal Court will hold a ribbon cutting to celebrate the completion of a new 18-hole disc golf course.
Please join us on Monday, May 20 at 11 a.m. in Yellow Creek Park. The ribbon cutting will be held at the first hole of the new “Creekside” course, near the parking lot for the Nature Center. Members of the general public and news media are invited to attend.
This course was designed by Dutch Napier, a professionally ranked disc golf player from Owensboro, with support from H.B. Clark who manufactured the signs. The layout of the “Creekside” course may be viewed on UDisc, a popular app for disc golf scorekeeping and course discovery nationwide.
Napier describes the course as fun but challenging and perfect for any skill level. Players will find a few water hazards on the back nine near the creek. However, the course is mainly open.
Daviess County Parks & Recreation now maintains three 18-hole disc golf courses, two at Yellow Creek Park and one at Panther Creek Park South.
The parks department will partner with Visit Owensboro and the Daviess County Disc Golf Association to host a B Tier sanctioned tournament through the Professional Disc Golf Association (PDGA). This event is planned for November 22-24 and will attract some of the best disc golf players in our region.
The Daviess County Disc Golf Association will also host a free clinic for the community on July 5, prior to the German American Bank Fireworks Festival. Players of all skill levels are encouraged to participate.
