First responders participate in a full-scale exercise at the HealthPark.
In this scenario, athletes begin to experience chlorine exposure symptoms after a malfunction in the pool. Firefighters establish an area for medical treatment and decontamination.
Athletes with severe symptoms are transported by ambulance to the hospital. A secondary decontamination takes place in a tent outside the Emergency Department.
Participating agencies include: Owensboro Health, Daviess County Emergency Management Agency, Owensboro Fire Department, Daviess County Sheriff’s Office, AMR Owensboro, and the Owensboro Police Department.
